What is HDMI?

HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface. It's a standard for connecting high-definition video devices and it is the primary audio/video connection for TVs, Blu-ray players, game consoles, set-top boxes. It allows both video and audio to pipe through one cable, without any degradation, and it allows digital encryption. Now at the CES show, we have HDMI 2.1

48Gbps vs. 18Gbps in HDMI version 2.0. This will require a new cable

Max resolution of 10K @ 100/120 refresh, getting (and 8K @ 60) this resolution requires a new cable
